Cours DLS4120 – Internship 4c: Teaching English as a Second Language outside Québec

The overall objective of this internship course is to provide students with a sustained experience teaching ESL to children or adults outside Québec, in order to consolidate the development of their professional skills and strengthen the connection between theory and practice.

This internship course aims to familiarize students with ESL disciplinary programs outside Québec and addresses various levels of pedagogical planning, including long-term planning, weekly planning, and the design of teaching and learning sequences. It emphasizes strategies that promote student engagement and address classroom diversity. Special focus is placed on assessing student competencies and on designing and effectively applying relevant assessment tools. The course also highlights the importance of collaboration within the school team, fostering effective communication and cooperation among staff members. Finally, it encourages students to implement strategies for developing constructive and lasting relationships between the school and families.

Le cours inclut 2 séminaires de 3h pendant le stage.

Stage d’une durée de 60 heures (sur 4 à 6 semaines). Prise en charge de la tâche d’enseignement à 100% après quelques jours d’observation.
