Sommaire du contenu

This course focuses on the development of students’ ability to read and demonstrate understanding of TESOL theory and research in relation to the topics covered in their programme. Students will read research articles to deepen their understanding of studied concepts and of issues surrounding these concepts for their classroom practice. The articles will also be analysed for their genre and their research intention and different publication venues will be discussed in terms of quality. Students will demonstrate their understanding by producing academic genres appropriate to their development. This will provide students with the necessary skills to continue reading and reacting to research as part of their continued professional development. Ethical considerations in research will be discussed. The articles chosen for this course will depend on the teacher’s expertise, the students’ interests and needs as well as an understanding of areas covered during the programme in which students would benefit from revision or supplementary information.
